Difficult times

You won't be surprised to read that my weekly classes and one day workshops are currently suspended and postponed until we allowed to meet up again. Workshops that were booked will be run at a later dates when we are able to do so. Feel free to browse and contact me if you have any questions.

General info about Studio Workshops

  • All studio workshops are from 10-3.30pm and take place at Sandra Orme Sky Studio and Gallery, 26 Rock Bank, Buxton. SK179JF.

  • Costs- £80 including food and materials.

  • Places limited to 7.

  • PLEASE NOTE: Accsss to the studio is via a short flight of uneven steps with handrail.

Workshop Voucher

Buy a gift for friends or family. With this voucher they can then choose which session they would like to attend at any time for a year from the date of purchase (subject to places available). £80 including most materials and lunch.

Liquid and pastels

Pastel can be turned into paint using liquefier then once dry, you can rework it with further pastel work mark-making. Its an intriguing process creating wet and dry mark-making. Explore colour mixing and create expressive and semi-abstract art work. Suitable for those that have pervious pastel experience.

The Calm and the Storm- 2 day workshop at The Ashmolean, Oxford.

The calm and the storm:
Spend a calm first day blending delicate white clouds against blue sky.  On day two let loose with stormy colours to create expressive pieces. Explore contrasting ways of blending and layering with an award winning artist to produce stunningly varied artwork. 

Two day workshop 2nd & 3rd May. All materials provided by The Ashmolean. Bring lunch or use the lovely museum cafe.

Out of the darkness

Charcoal is a truly stunning medium to work with. Spend the day exploring using it with both dry and wet techniques on two different papers. Create dramatic and eye catching monochromatic art.

Turquoise Seas

A return of a very popular course. We will explore using pastels to create breaking waves with a delicate seashore. Spend the day learning how to layer pastels to show movement, light, depth and transparency.

Sunsets over the moors

Explore using and controlling vivid colours in pastel to create evocative sunset skies. We will be using specialist pastel paper so you will learn how to build layers and mix colours to wonderful effect.

Subject matter and structure of the day designed to meet each groups particular needs. Materials provided at cost price. 

Price guidance: 

For a half day workshop (e.g. 10-12.30 or 1-3.30pm)

£160 + travel costs if over 15 miles.

£210 + travel costs if over 35 miles.

For a full day bespoke tuition in pastels or charcoal. (e.g. 10-4pm)

£285 + travel costs if over 15 miles. 

£350 + travel costs if over 35 miles.

£435 for visits to groups over 70 miles involving an overnight stay.

Art Group Demos

Price guidance for a two hour demonstration:

£130 within 20 miles.

£165 within 40 miles- plus travel costs

£250 within 60 miles- plus travel costs

£275+ if over 60 miles - please contact me for a quote

A two hour demonstration will give the audience an insight into how I develop a pastel work and touch on techniques, materials as well as overall considerations. Subject matter can be arranged to suit interests of the group. Usual themes include Dramatic Skies, Seascapes, etc.

Weekly art classes


The classes focus on developing general art skills- for example, using perspective, drawing from still life, proportion and composition. We then also look at particular mediums- pastels, collage pencil etc. We tend to work as a group and develop key areas that we all agree would be of interest or a challenge.

  • Drop in session.

  • 10am-12 and 1-3pm every Thursday.

  • Pay weekly or in blocks for 4 sessions.

  • £10 per session or £30 for a block of 4.

  • Tea and biscuits provided.
